The Shed at Glenwood is the city’s latest restaurant to fall victim to the pandemic. The longtime Glenwood Park restaurant, at 475 Bill Kennedy Way SE., has closed its doors for good, the Atlanta-Journal Constitution Wednesday first reported. Co-Owner Rich Spillane confirmed the news in an email to What Now Atlanta.
“Unfortunately, due to the pandemic we could not responsibly and safely stay open,” Spillane said. “It was a difficult decision to shut our doors and we appreciate the support the community gave us while we were open.” As with many of Atlanta’s restaurants, The Shed closed its doors in March to slow the spread of COVID-19 as mandated by local governments and never reopened.
Founded in 2008 serving new American, farm-to-table cuisine, The Shed gained notoriety from 2012 to 2015 during a stint with Chef Todd Richards helming the kitchen. Richards went on to run several other restaurants including The Pig & The Pearl in Atlantic Station and recently debuted a new East Lake barbecue restaurant.
Movement in Glenwood Park doesn’t seem to be slowing in terms of new food and beverage options. In recent weeks both Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams and Bond-inspired Vesper bar both opened nearby.
