Arts Center to hold Construction Viewing Party Saturday– and you’re invited!

Art lovers rejoice!– After closing her art gallery during the economic downturn, Fay Gold, a legend in the city’s art community since 1980, is back and better then ever.

Taking space across from Miller Union at 997 Brady Avenue, Gold will act as gallery director and curator for the Westside Cultural Arts Center, according to Nicholas Miller, the center’s marketing and media liaison.

The 12,500-square-foot center will offer more than 9,000 square feet of dedicated gallery and event space, Miller told What Now Atlanta in an email Wednesday.

James L. Chappuis, Atlanta spine surgeon, founded the Westside Cultural Arts Center, which is planned to open this Fall.

“We want to push into new territories and blur the distinction between art and life,” Miller said. “Art is not just for art’s sake but for people to influence people. That is the vision for the Westside Cultural Arts Center.”

To celebrate announcing the new art center, a “construction party” will be held on Saturday, May 21 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This event is an opportunity to preview the building that will be renovated into an exciting new cultural concept.

Artists’ work on exhibit during the event will include Anthony Liggins, Cynthia Knapp, Gregor Turk, Gail Foster, Zoe Hersey, Michael Barringer, Joyce Tenneson, and Rana Rochat.

Cajun cuisine will be served at the event by Chef Kern Chiasson, with music and entertainment by blues artist, Lil’ G Weevil.
