“10” plans to open in time for Pride in October.

UPDATE (Nov. 18, 2012): 5 Napkin’s replacement scrounges up $48K to remodel $1.5 million space

The coveted 5 Napkin Burger space (formerly occupied by longtime tenant Nickiemoto’s), at 990 Piedmont Ave., won’t sit dark for long.

As soon as the New York City burger concept shuttered its doors in August after a short 12 months, several bids were made for the space, including one from California-based Hamburger Mary’s.

James Nelson, the owner of Gravity Fitness, won a contract to open “10” at the space, Midtown Patch first reported. “10” will be part restaurant, part gay bar, according to the report.

What Now Atlanta spoke with Lyle Cornelius Wednesday, a manager at the fitness center located at 2201 Faulkner Road. Cornelius confirmed Nelson was opening “10” in the former 5 Napkin space.

Temporary banners were placed on the space Tuesday announcing the new concept would open soon. Nelson was not immediately available for comment.
