The Chick-fil-A at 1942 Howell Mill Rd NW later this year could undergo a “scrap and rebuild,” phrasing the fast-casual chicken chain uses referring to demolishing and rebuilding an existing restaurant to maximize revenues.
A permit application Tuesday was filed with the City of Atlanta to build a new, ground-up Chick-fil-A once the existing restaurant is demolished.
Construction on the new 3,574-square-foot restaurant could cost $800,000, according to the plans.
Craig Kimble, a manager at the Howell Mill Chick-fil-A, confirmed the filing in a telephone conversation with What Now Atlanta Tuesday.
Kimble said the new design would have a “drive-thru focus,” likely including multiple drive-thrus like the location planned on the corner of Boulevard and Ponce de Leon Avenue.
He said Chick-fil-A is constantly evaluating the performance of each of its restaurants and that this location would be better suited to increase profits with at least two drive-thrus.
A timeline for the project is TBD.
